Saudha Ghazal Thumri and Kheyal Festival

  • Keats House 10 Keats Grove London, England, NW3 2RR United Kingdom (map)

Returning to London, for the eighth year, in collaboration with Keats House.

As part of celebrating the bicentenary of Victor Hugo’s seminal work, Odes et Ballades, this session aims to re-explore a selection of Hugo's Odes and Ballads through John Keats' poetry of similar genre, merging seamlessly with a magical performance of complementing hypnotically romantic genre of Indian classical & semi-classical music - Ghazal, Thumri and Kheyal and re-create a new meaning for each art form.

Curated by T M Ahmed Kaysher, the festival actually offers a fresh new and rare presentations of Ghazal Thumri and Kheyal - three visceral genres of Indian classical & semi-classical music with complementing, re-interpretative verses of poetry from global literature.

The session features a few leading Indian classical musicians, spoken-word artists from different traditions.
