Group of volunteers by Hampstead Pond

Health Connections

Our Health Connections programmes supports people who would like to improve their physical or mental health through contact with nature. This can be for general health improvement or as part of a more structured programme of recovery through nature or green social prescribing.

Partnership work and social prescribing

We work with partner organisations to create programmes of regular activities in nature. These activities can include conservation volunteering, gardening, walking, nature mindfulness etc.

Spending time meaningfully in nature, getting active, and making a positive contribution to the environment are hugely beneficial for mental and physical wellbeing and have been shown to help those in recovery programmes.

We are also happy to partner with organisations looking for green social prescribing opportunities on Hampstead Heath - view our case study video below or get in touch to set up free nature wellbeing activities for your group.

Health walks

Our volunteers lead regular free health walks every Monday morning (except bank holidays) and, as of March 2024, Thursday mornings too - no need to book, just turn up, find the volunteers in hi vis vests and join in - find out more details (including the meeting points) here.

Women-only Nordic walking

In partnership with QCCA, we run free women-only Nordic walks on Monday mornings at 9.30 outside of school holidays. More detail of upcoming sessions on our what’s on page.

Nature walks, forest bathing and other activities

Check out our public programme of regular nature walks, nature mindfulness and other wellbeing activities. This is updated regularly so do check back from time to time or you can join as a Friend of Heath Hands to receive our newsletter and hear about events before they reach the website as well as a range of other benefits.

Youth wellbeing

In addition to our general activity programme, we run youth volunteering on Saturday mornings and welcome visits from youth groups of all kinds - find out more here.
